Some years ago I really put Judy's talents & patience to a test, by
commissioning a drawing of the Clemenceau School Building for a raffle
prize for the Clemenceau Heritage Museum. It is another wonderful work
of art but animals are her first love & it was a very tedious process for
her. From that drawing, we have prints to sell & postcards to benefit
the Museum also."

"...you can post our picture that you drew of our beloved cats in 2000. We have it
hanging in our home and enjoy it everytime we look at it."
"...I think God has given you a gift of being the best at the animal portraits that you do. You
capture the best pose and have been so easy and patient to work with."
“Comet, the dog, was the best present I ever received. His beautiful portrait, by
Judith Nelson, is the second best!”
"Your artwork has a prized spot in the bedroom where these two spoiled
poochies sleep...
"When we saw the wonderful likeness of Ellie Belle that Judy captured
we were so happy. We had lost our little dog way too soon due to illness
and with this picture she continues to fill our home with her personality,
charm and love just as if she was still with us. We cannot thank Judy
enough for her talents in bringing the latent beauty of Ellie Belle's nature
out!"
"The eagle is wonderful! Thank you for continuing this marvelous work of are!
It will surely be among my treasures!"
"I want you to know that I received the marvelous [SCRIMSHAW] powder horn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I
am indeed thrilled with it and do so realize that your placement of the magnificent eagle has a
message for me. I shall always cherish the powder horn as one of my treasures. I wish to thank
you with all of my heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"What a great web site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You bet you may use anything that I have written to you,
as well as the art on my fabulous powder horn. I must also say once again, I am
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to the next piece that you do for me."
"Years ago "I treasure the skrimshaw (spelled wrong, should be SCRIMSHAW!) on ivory that
Judy made for me. Not only does her enormous talent shine through, but the depictions of my
beloved dogs (of Skipper and Cody - they are both gone now and I miss them terribly) warms my
heart whenever I wear it. I was also greatly impressed with all of Judy's other art objects, She is a very talented
lady."
"When I gave the scrimshaw pendant of the Pekinese dog to my sister, she grinned, and
said, "I LOVE it."
"I am going to send you a snapshot of your wonderful egg in its' Place of Honor. It is just
below a beutiful watercolor by Kyogi Isai, a Japanese artist in the 1700's. The Egg rests on an
antique table that was owned by Warren Christopher's grandmother. Warren Christopher was
Secretary of State under Carter. She was an aquaintence of my wife's Grammy. I am not a name
dropper, but wanted to let you know your Egg resides in a place of honor along with my most
treasured posessions."
"I have gotten many pieces of art work including Emu and ostrich egg
carvings from Judith Nelson in the past several years. I am especially
fond of an emu egg with a portrait of my pet shih tzu, Barbie, carved on it.
"I would love for everyone to see the talent that this lady has. She is
amazing in capturing your loved ones with her art. She recently did a
portrait of my parents on an ostrich egg and I would not part with it for the
world. It is like having my Mother and Father in my living room, they are so
realistic. I would recommend her art work to anyone that want's the very
best art...none equal hers."
"I cannot tell you what the egg and plaque (an urn was not available at
that time) of my dog mean to me every time I look at them. There could not be a
better memorial for the wonderful life we shared together! They are proudly
displayed in my living room! I appreciate your talent and capturing the personality
and love of my dog!"
"It is hard to put into words what your artwork does for me and my grief work. I
just have to say that you are an inspiration to my life and to my devotion and
love to my animals!! When I lose one of my pets, like Barnie, Mugzie, Vinnie
or Brandie, your artwork heals my heart and soul. I know I can just look into
the eyes on your urns or portraits and "see" them again. It helps to move me
through my grieving process. Your artwork has truly healed me in many ways
and allowed me to love others as well.
"Judith Nelson was introduced into the Carnegie Arts Center gallery in
2001. Her exhibit displayed a wide range of artistic talent, ranging
from precise pen and ink drawings to scrimshaw on ivory and on to hand
carved emu and ostrich eggs. Judith's attention to presentation and
detail in her work, as well as her pleasant personality make her a
perfect fit for our gallery's standard of excellence."
"I met Judy within a year or so of moving to AZ. I was so impressed with
her Pen & Ink Drawings & the scrimshaw work on ivory shed by the animals.
At first I planned to commission a pendant or such for a daughter. The
more I saw her Art the more impressed I was & still am. She only needs
snapshots & draws incredible pictures of our daughter's pets, which are
their Birthday or Christmas gifts. They & their friends are so impressed
with each & every one, they love them & enjoy displaying them in their
homes.
"I build custom log furniture and Judith Nelson has done some of the most fantastic artwork
that I have seen. The carved grizzly bear cub in one of my log beds is just awesome. If it has
anything to do with fine art, Judy is my choice. Thank you Judy for all of the work you have
done for me and our store."
